Celebrity Challenge
Concept: The Texas Invitational Wakeboard Tournament has two primary goals: (i) establishment of an annual best-of-its-kind collegiate wakeboard tournament to further the growth and reputation of the sport and (ii) establishment of a yearly opportunity for our wakeboad community to reach out and help its local community through raising funds for a worthy local charity. The Celebrity Challenge will assist the Tournament in reaching these goals by providing a fun, high visibility event to promote interest in the tournament, promote the sport of wakeboarding and promote our cause - the Austin Children's Shelter.
Celebrity Challenge Outline: The Challenge will involve six of our local media celebrities, three men and three women, who will take lessons from our three wakeboard schools and then compete in a tournament format on Friday night at TSR. The final competition will be divided into a men's run and a women's run - with each contestant being scored by the judges on a one pass (up and back) at TSR (3 fall limit). Scoring will be the INT scoring system.
Wakeboard Schools Participating: Three wakeboard schools that have agreed to participate in this event are Texas Ski Ranch (Blake Hess), Freeride Wakeboard School (Billy Garcia) and Lake Lessons (Greg Lawrence and Ross Skrudland). Each of the schools have agreed to provide free lessons for one of our male and one of our female celebrities to get them ready for the event. We are relying on (i) the friendly rivalry among the wakeboard schools, (ii) the friendly rivalry among the media outlets, and (iii) the competitive spirit of our contestants to make this a fun and challenging event.
